Getting there and around |

By Car: The Southern Lakes area
is easily accessible by road, with the State Highways running through
spectacular scenery. Car hire is possible in Queenstown, Wanaka
and Te Anau.
Fly : There is an international airport in Queenstown
and a local airport in Wanaka. Flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne
and domestic flights from Auckland and Christchurch arrive in Queenstown.
A shuttle service runs 5 times daily between Queenstown and Wanaka.
Alternatively many flights arrive in Christchurch and frequent coach
services run between Christchurch, Queenstown and Wanaka. See Queenstown

Zealand. Coach : Coach services and tours
from many different companies run from all major centres in New
Zealand to Queenstown and Wanaka regularly.
Getting around : In both Queenstown, Wanaka and
Te Anau, most shops and restaurants are within walking distance
of the downtown area. Many tour operators offer transport to and
from your accommodation to your activities. Cycle hire is possible
and, in Queenstown, taxis are available.
